Following on the success of last October’s Eco Chic Hong Kong fashion extravaganza, the Hong Kong based non-profit, Green2Greener, has once again dazzled Asia’s fashion runways with its recent gala, EcoChic Shanghai.
EcoChic Shanghai highlighted three different components of eco fashion: Ready-to-Wear, eco-couture, and incredibly gorgeous vintage garments. More than fifteen R-t-W labels from around the world, including three outstanding designers from China, showcased their sustainable collections alongside eco-couture designs from international superstars, Diane von Furstenberg, Thakoon, Johanna Ho, and Nathan Jenden. The event also promoted vintage collectible garments as the epitome of fashion-forward recycling, with edgy and glamorous remakes favored by celebrities such as Kate Moss and Maggie Cheung.
Innovative eco-couture designs by Thakoon, Johanna Ho, Elena Garcia, and Nathan Jenden redefined the haute-chic possibilities for soy, bamboo, and recycled luxe fabrics, handcrafted-paper included.
Eco chic couture by Cecilia Yau, Gu Yi, He Yan, Jenny Ji Liu Wei, Liu Xing, Lu Kun, Gu were just a few of the stand outs from the Chinese fashion design scene that is really gaining momentum now that shows like this are being highlighted as the ultimate in high fashion and smart-chic dressing on the international scene.
