Saturday night in June after a few days in the high 90-100's the heat wave had to break and it did... right when me and my girl were listening to "Modest Modest" and "The National" warmup gigs all hell broke loose and a lightning storm started right above the open theatre.
After waiting under the bleachers for another hour+ the show started with the rain pouring down (but at least the lightning storm moved away).
Michael Stipe (Lead) opened the show with "Have You Ever Seen The Rain?" (Video) and R.E.M kept rocking for 2.5 hours of great music, stage and video were amazing too.
During the show Stipe asked the audience who was wet enough they needed a T-Shirt (everybody) then he picks up a bunch of shirts and say "the thing is the only shirts I have in my road case, have Obama written on them" so he handed those out, later he handed out what seemed to be Obama marketing materials to the audience. I thought to myself that it's funny that a Rock band endorses a candidate but then again R.E.M is more then a super-delegates.
All in all this was one of the best shows I'v been to in years... definitely worth it!
