When I think lewd, I think of offending a conservative view. I picture retro rock trashy smudged dark make-up and leather jackets, smacking gum, spitting a large "loogy" and smoking which I'm strangely attracted to.Lewd's image is that bad boy, James Dean rebellion without a cause made feminine and intellectualised. James dean reading the feminine mystique? Rather the sophistication of European coffee drinkers, smoking and writing poetry in cafes. Yes, I get all that from a few outfits but you would to.
The Lewd show at L'oreal Fashion Week, was playing a fun song that I still can't get out of my head repeating "it's alright to be me", hot models in dark denim, greys and dark red lipstick. Don't be mistaken, Lewd isn't all fun, youthful and rebellious. Lewd is a company that has it's own moral standards, produced in Canada they also "source it's textiles" from Canada and Europe. These kids aren't playing around, they mean quality and are set on doing things with a little bit of a conscience, so I applaud them.
When you first see Lewd you may let it's je ne sais quoi pass you because of the dark colours palette BUT as soon as you look away you realized it's too late you're enveloped in it's charm. If rebellion can be as cute as it is Lewd, you'll understand your new obsession with one article or another. Each piece is special in it's own way and that's when this whole thing comes full circle, it's sophistication and bad-ass theme intertwined and you realize there's nothing more bad-ass then it's sophistication. Nothing tops James Dean reading the feminine mystique.
