This pale blue silk chiffon gown might look ordinary to you, but it actually holds a piece of history. It was inspired by race Kelly, Designed by Catherine Walker (
www.catherinewalker.com) of London, and worn by Princess Diana herself. Diana wore it to the Cannes film festival in 1987 and to the opening of Miss Saigon in 1989.• The dress was first sold by Christie’s Auction House in New York City, in 1997 (referred to by Princess Diana as “Sequins Save Lives” auction) one month before her death. WE tv purchased the dress and now is selling it on eBay, with all the profits to benefit America’s Promise Alliance. When I first saw this in the news, I was sure there will be lots of buyers for such a unique piece of history, but it seems like the sky rocking starting price ($125k) scared off some history lovers. The auction is ending tomorrow and there are still no bids... I think the dress is amazing, and the cause is really important. Hope someone will jump in the last minute and make some good in Diana's memory
