Designer, Musicians, and Scientist Come Together to Help the Ocean

November 16, 2009- Santa Barbara, CA- Fun was had by all in attendance at the Music of Humanity event featuring Jonathan McEuen, Randy Tico, and Hammond at SOHO, Saturday, November, 14th, 2009. Blending fashion, music and consciousness the evening celebrated the natural fibers used in the elegant glamour of Katharine Kidd, with proceeds from the door going to help a local scientist in her quest to help us help the ocean.??


Dr. Andrea Neal, Ph.D is currently studying the overall environmental impact of our trash. She just returned from the North West Pacific Gyre Trash Vortex as Principle Investigator on Project Kaisei, a ship that sailed from San Francisco. She is also studying man made chemicals; such as flame retardants, in our oceans, wildlife and ourselves. Dr.Neal is the science advisor for Jean Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society and has over 11 years experience in the scientific field. She received her post doctoral at BREN, UCSB and received her doctorate in Molecular Genetics and Lipid Biochemistry from the Swedish Life Sciences University. Visit,


The dinner guests were happy to have room to dance to the high energy music of McEuen and Tico as photographs of the Kidd collection were taken on stage with the rock stars. Guests were thoroughly entertained and enamored by Kidd’s fashion and model. Hammond, with his camp counseloresque antics had the whole audience throw their arms up in the air and give a big Weeeeeeeooo! We are all looking forward to the next event.
