Fay (tropical storm) is knocking on my door, windows and roof, but only thing on my mind is “FALL”. Rust, burgundy and hue of blue is revolving in my mind while pale peach, beige's and soft grey has put a veil in front of my eyes.
Volume, length, oversize coats, menswear, ultra feminine and minimalism; this fall season has seen an array of style, which can be mix and match or go solo, just remember to add your own personal touch.
TOP TRENDS FOR FALL:
1.Over size cocoon coats: Cocoon style coats are actually a vintage style, a bright orange-yellow skirts illustration by Georges Lepape (French, 1887-1971), from my Survey of Historic Costume book is keep appearing before my eyes. I am in love with these new coats; pair them up with some bright color leggings and cool boots.
2. Minimalist: Clean lines are a trade mark of Calvin Kline, but this season we saw designers like Narciso Rodriguez and Prada embracing the neutral hue with clean feel and simplicity.
3. Structure: I am loving the little black dress from Balanciaga, also note able Katy Rodriguez added the structure sleeve to a minimalist dress. Gorgeous!!
4. Ruffles & Bows: Sweat & romantic, we are dragging these beauties from spring to fall. Blouses with bellowing bows peaking from the jacket collar, adds the perfect power & feminine touch for the office.
There is nothing as romantic or flirty then a ruffle, and this season fall felt more like spring with tiered ruffles on the frocks.
5. Boy Friend’s closet: There is something so sexy about a girl in her boyfriend’s shirt. This season designers kicked up a notch; a boyish jackets with a flirty skirt and cinched waist, the look is just as cool if worn with a trouser, or a high waisted wide leg pants.
6. The Length issue: The maxi is back, long dresses and floor sweeping skirts were all over the runway; the look was layered and paired with boots, naturally.
7. Flower power and foliage: Floral prints in fall, absolutely. There is nothing more feminine and uplifting than a floral print dress, perfect for a gloomy November evening; just like the “designer” order.
8. Artist stroke: After all designers are artist and with this look one would wonder if it was a paint spill or careful brushstroke. These vibrant water colors can be splashes of paint or humongous orchids and flowers.
9. Tweed: There is something timeless and classic and chic about a tweed suit; how about updating it with a color full accessory or painted blouse with a tweed jacket.
10. Chunky Knits: Oversize and chunky sweaters are still in. There nothing more cozy and comforting then a cashmere wool. Sleeveless sweaters and roomy ponchos make the fall.
11. Superhero: May be it’s all the superhero movies that have finally influenced the designers to reinvent whole new criteria in women wear and I love this look powerful and sexy.
Few other noteable yles:
Sleeveless Jackets, I live in Florida so this is one style I am so excited about (I have removed sleeves from one of my jacket).
Color Hint, A hint of color is shown through blacks, browns and beige.
This fall season has so much to offer; from the color choices which ranges from whites, grays and blacks to pastels and vibrant. While the silhouette is just as much fun to explore; if you don’t like slouchy oversize clothes try a fitted jacket or may be you prefer a flirty skirt. Whatever it is play with your own personal style, like I always say to my clients, “You are never more mysterious and beautiful than you are yourself.”
