Confession: I sometimes forget to be eco-friendly when it comes to pet supplies.  Here I am, spending all this time worrying about the purchases I make for myself, but somehow, I suffer a mental lapse at the pet store.  I seriously doubt that latest squeaky toy is made from post-consumer recycled plastic.

In an effort to avoid unnecessary future environmental transgressions, I did a little research and found some amazing and attractive green gear for your favorite four-legger.

Sustainable Pet has created recycled dog and cat houses with green vegetative roofs.  The designs and shapes are modern and attractive, with the added bonus of being both soothing and healthy for your pet.

Great Green Pet is another great resource.  The "Eco Slumber" dog bed has an organic cotton cover and stuffing from recycled plastic bottles. 

The site also features a dog collar from recycled car tires lined with old seatbelt fabric! 

Simply Fido, Treehugger, and Earth Dog also showcase a variety of organic treats and toys.

 Now I really have no excuses!
