If you were ever interested in learning about the luxury industry this book is for you...Deluxe-How Luxury Lost its Luster is carefully written by Dana Thomas a real deal journalist(15 years in Paris... written for Newsweek, The New York Times Magazine amongst others) who is educated, charming, wordly and who makes this stuff an intriguing treat to read...wonder how l\Louis Vuitton got its start? ...curious as to why a certain brand or logo on a product sends out a message of worth or status?Thomas tears away at the already deconstructing idea of luxury and the business that surrounds it...I pose this last thought to you the reader...if you had millions and you loved luxury goods...would you spend $10,000 on a handbag, if the guy around the corner was selling the same bag, or what from a not too far distance looked like the same bag for $50? What is luxury worth at this stage...is it all just smoke and mirrors...is it individual perception??? If its made in China as opposed to France or Italy...is the quality compromised...what does luxury mean to you and to the world around you...has it changed over the years?...I would have to say yes...with that being said...I bid you adeiu...go buy the book...happy contemplating/reading...ta for now....dubzy
