Toronto chef, Susur Lee, is the first chef to announce plans to open a restaurant at the iconic One World Trade Center in New York City.
After the decision to partner with the China Center New York, Lee agreed to open a restaurant at the Chinese centre’s private luxury members-only club on the 66th floor.
The Center itself will serve as a gateway for Chinese companies to the US and take up permanent residence at the tower in 2015.
As for the menu, it is described as “re-imagined” authentic Chinese flavours presented in a modern and contemporary spirit.
Each of the dishes will represent the eight main regions of China.
This is Lee’s second attempt at running a restaurant in New York City... He previously had Shang restaurant in the Thompson LES Hotel.
TV audiences know Lee for his appearances on shows like Iron Chef America and Top Chef Masters where he was the runner-up to winner Marcus Samuelsson.
He currently helms a trio of restaurants including Lee and Bent in Toronto and TungLok Heen at Hotel Michael in Singapore.
