Lilly Pulitzer celebrates 50 years of designing preppy, colorful clothing.

Lilly began her iconic brand with one simple shift dress which she designed to wear while working at her juice stand in Palm Beach, Florida. The colorful prints that adorned the dress were useful to help hide stains from the fruit.

Lilly quickly found that customers loved her dress, and she began producing more dresses to sell at her juice stand. Soon she was selling more dresses than juice. Lilly's dress designs quickly became a fashion sensation.

She started her clothing company for a reason that embodies what Palm Beach stands for - she started it for fun.
