I have dry skin and growing up in the Northeast, I have lived many days where I would undress and my skin was gray, even if I slathered lotion on before heading out. Remember that lotion commercial where the model wrote dry on her skin? Well I was that girl, but you could have written a book on mine. Now that I reside in North Carolina, the winters are a bit kinder to my skin; yet, I still suffer from dryness when the temperatures dip. A dear friend who is from the Czech Republic shared with me a tip that I am kicking myself for not trying it sooner, coffee grounds.
Coffee grounds? Absolutely! Will they clog your tub? Nope! You simply make a pot of your favorite Joe, remove the grounds and store them in a sandwich bag until your bathing time. Then smear the grounds on your dampened skin in the shower, rinse and cleanse as usual. It is a special treat when you use them warm, fresh from the coffee maker. If you are like me and have spent hundreds of dollars on sugar and sea salt body scrubs, you must try this! The first time I tried it I was amazed. No sugar/salt scrub has ever come close to make my skin feel the way the coffee grounds have.
I know coffee is a no-no for fashionistas who concern themselves with giving up vices for the sake of beauty. But hey, as a high school English teacher with a schedule that has me facing 32 darling sixteen and seventeen year olds by 7:20 am, a girl needs a boost! And Red Bull just won’t cut it. The cool thing is, if you are into consuming the coffee then this is a double treat for you because you are not wasting the grounds.
Whether you are a fan of consumption or not, there is no denying the fact that coffee is actually good for every body.
