Is it true that fashion house Chloe, once associated with "it-ness" (style.com) and the power over women to inspire them to purchase the sexy, trophy, one of a kind pieces at any cost, now needs to add a freshness to their upcoming Spring 2009 collection in order to reconnect with the customer?
Fashion trail blazer, Hannah MacGibbon says that she is focused in "cleansing the pallette" and " aiming to decomplicate fashion for young women" (style.com). Armed with scallop edge coats, high waisted flaired shorts, 80s boho something jumpsuits, and blouses with rounded shoulders does add a freshness to the warmer season's collection.
Though inspiring, is it wearable we must ask ourselves. Colors are on track, featuring the more organic and spontaneous fashionistas faves such as beige, chartreuse, bluebell, apricot, and green and using black to add the chic factor.
So, we continue to contemplate, does MacGibbon have the it factor, the non-intellectual girly knack, the non fussy yet chic designs to steer Chloe back to its once "pret a porter" origins? Will she achieve all Chloe is, once was, and needs to be? Will she evolve as a designer and be able to take the reigns of this beloved fashion house?
Only time will tell, economics, collections, and inspirations.
As far as I am concerned, MacGibbon is promising but she is still finding herself and perfecting her image as a designer. Inspiring, fresh and new. Appears that Chloe got what the house was praying for.
I'm rooting for you MacGibbon!
