"I’ve gone absolutely mad for warriors this season" says Manolo Blahnik about his autumn collection. Samurai masks, metal discs from the crusaders and the Amazons have been sources of inspiration for parts of the collection. But the inspiration was also retrieved from the Scottish Highlands, and their colorful tartans.
"And then, admist all this madness, I’ve included a strand of classicism that right now seems to be spot on," continues Blahnik and they are visible on the always present and updated Mary Janes, slingbacks and pumps with lower heels than we are accustomed to see from the shoemaster.
It is elegance and innovative and, as mentioned, a little madness. And Manolo Blahnik have not turned off my cravings. I would love the striped boots with the golden heel, may not be a hundred percent practical for the Swedish winter but it could pass as art on any wall, any time.
