Nancy Cunard was the muse for Rodebjers collection autumn 2009. Cunard was for me a new acquaintance but the background material on the collection gives the following information:
The Autumn/Winter 2009 collection by Rodebjer draws its inspiration from the British muse Nancy Cunard. Cunard, who was born into the British upper class in the end of the 19th century, was an intellectual rebellion with the courage to question the values of her privileged background. This rebellious state of mind is reflected in the way traditional fabrics are mixed with unexpected fabrics and detailing, the collection aims to encourage creativity and an open mind. The prints are inspired by classical bow ties, the color palette is based on masculine tones accented by British racing green and royal blue.
And it's the rebellious side of Cunard that inspired Rodebjer. The collection includes a classic British-color palette and related boxes seasoned with a little 70ies and rock chic. The contrast in materials and styles makes it possible to draw a lot of inspiration from. The most beautiful garments comes in dark blue velvet (far right in the picture).
