In a surprising move Barack Obama granted his first family interview, including his wife and two young daughters, to the syndicated gossip show "Access Hollywood." Obama himself now says the family got “carried away,” and that exposing his kids to the media like that “won’t happen again”:
“We were having a birthday party, and everybody was laughing. And suddenly this thing cropped up. I didn’t catch it quickly enough. I was surprised by the attention it received.”
Putting my political views side (I'm not competent enough to even weight in) it makes me wonder how this could happen during the extremely calculated presidential campaign. Is there a way these days to interview candidate's family without the permission from his publicist, spokesperson, campaign strategist and a long line of people that were hired to make sure carefully crafted Obama's image doesn't get hurt?
On the other hand if you ask me, this could turn into a brilliant marketing strategy leading to Obama's win. After all gossip news are moving this world much more than any political debate these days.
And this is something John McCain won't be able to pull off, unless he pumps up his sex-appeal by November.
The interview is being aired in four parts this week on “Access Hollywood,” and no matter how private it gets, it'll be an historical moment in presidential campaigns.
