As fog continues to surround the Project Runway show future, The Fashion Show - newest Bravo's baby - rises high. The latest judges and hosts announcements only continue to position the new show as a replacement to our old favorite fashion-meets-entertainment fix. Here is the latest cast of The Fashion Show:
- Internationally acclaimed designer Isaac Mizrahi as Tim Gunn.
- Four-time Grammy Award-winning performer and actress Kelly Rowland as Heidi Klum.
- Fashion luminary and Senior Vice President of IMG Fashion, Fern Mallis as Nina Garcia.
Should we expect more judges to join or will the show invite guest judges? Those questions still remain unanswered.
The show also seems to be more of a resession-friendly version of Project Runway, as it connects more to the business and retail sides of fashion. The lettuce-dress making competitions, will be replaced with real life challenges and the show will follow professional designers as they strive to make their mark in the dog-eat-dog world of fashion and compete for a chance to have their designs sold for the mass retail market. The designers will face off in challenges and have their fate determined not only by the professional judges, but also by a studio audience.
Coincidentally, my inbox received a message today intended to the members of Fashion 2.0 meetup I'm organizing, which suggests (although unconfirmed) relation to the show. The message wasn't intended for public use, so the only details I can include is that a major network is looking for fashion obsessed audience to help the judges determine who the winner and loser of the show will be. It looks like the taping will happen in NYC during March.
Some other details of the show include the winner prize - which is his/her designs available for sale by a major retail outlet. Should we guess this will be Liz Claiborne, where Mizrahi is currently serving as a Creative Director and Tim Gunn as a Chief Creative Officer? Imagine this office drama...
