Ladies, it’s time to get a little lacy.  The runways for the upcoming season were rich with lace.  Designers like Prada, Derek Lam, and Peter Som all prominently featured lace in their collections.

There were many different shades of lace, from classic black to metallic golds to baby blues to vibrant orange.  The cuts were quite modest, with high necklines, low hemlines and demure silhouettes. 

Overall, the look of lace is antique, sophisticated, and very feminine.  Yet, depending on the color of the lace, the look can range from dark and sultry in black to dainty and innocent in white.

This season, lace isn’t reserved just for dresses.  Lace shoes and bags are also going to be popular.  But please, don’t combine all three lacy pieces in one outfit… major trend overkill.  If you’re going for a bold lace pump, keep the dress simple and chic in solid black.  If you’re wearing a lavish lace dress, wear a sleek and sophisticated pump.

Personally, I’ve always loved lace so I’m thrilled to see it come back into the fashion spotlight.  Wearing a lace dress, it’s hard not to feel elegant, glamorous, and sexy!
