Danity Kane, the R&B girl group spawned out of MTV's Making the Band reality television series, is designing a line of jeans for Dollhouse Jeans. The collaboration is a perfect match not only because Danity Kane's style mirrors Dollhouse Jeans' aesthetic, but also because of it's smart co-branding, as Danity Kane's new album is titled Welcome To The Dollhouse.
The collection will feature a variety of jeans in different colors and washes, cut for all shapes and sizes. As expected, it will also feature gaudy details, particularly on the back pockets (where else?) such as leather-lined butt cheeks, tacky gold stitching, and bright turquoise buttons. However, I see the appeal in the aesthetic that strongly coincides with the girl group's own style. It's very trendy and playful, with an overt sexiness and a hip-hop, urban flair.
Although it's not my personal taste, if their denim line sells half as well as their new hit album it will definitely be a success!
The denim collection will be available in October in Macy's stores and Dollhouse's website.
