For all of you America's Next Top Model junkies out there, today Cycle 10 contestant Lauren was spotted walking the streets of Williamsburg, just a few short blocks away from McCarren Park Pool, the site of the Music Genre Photo Shoot on Episode 6. Yes, that is where, out of sheer irony, the uber-punk Lauren was forced to channel her inner pop princess (although she ultimately evoked more of an image of a drag queen dominatrix than the Britney Spears "Hit Me Baby One More Time" music video inspiration).
Well, the show's first "punk" contestant (seriously, as much as I love ANTM, we all know the contestants are picked for exaggerated gimmicky stereotypes more than their actual modeling potentional) is keeping it "punk" as ever.
Lauren was wearing her signature punk uniform-- tight, acid wash black, long frayed jean shorts, a studded leather belt, a grey acid wash vest with some patches, studs, and the like, with solid black Keds sneakers. For someone who claimed to have never worn makeup before, she was wearing an awful lot of dark grey shimmery eye shadow-- a poor and excessive attempt at a smoky eye. She looks even taller in person, she must really be 6'2"!
Watching Cycle 10, I always used to laugh at Lauren's constant Brooklyn references ("I can just hop on the L and go home! I'm not like these girls, I go to punk shows in Brooklyn" etc.), never letting the audience forget that she is most definitely hip and punk!
As a resident of the ever increasingly hip and trendy neighborhood of Williamsburg, Brooklyn, real top model sightings are not uncommon to me. I've seen Agyness Deyn around a few times but initially failed to recognize her, probably because she has so many imitators here! But I knew if Lauren spent as much time in Brooklyn as she did talking about it on ANTM, it was only a matter of time before I'd run into her!
