With a flavour, I mean scent, for every mood, you should easily find something you like. As much as I want to smell like candy (pink grapefruit), or overpowering fruit (pear blossom), there's something very wrong about scents that make your eyes water and makes children sneeze if they get too close. Problematic when you're a teacher.
My lotions, my moods...
Bath and Bodyworks Warm Vanilla Sugar--for when I want to feel homey or scrumptious. Warm is such a perfect word in the product's name.
Bath and Bodyworks Black Raspberry Vanilla--hmm...seeing a trend in vanillas? When I want to feel pretty and feminine.
Fruits & Passion Pink Grapefruit--this is grapefruit, but not the sickeningly sweet pink grapefruit smell from Bath & Bodyworks. Fresh and citrusy--invigorating. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find this in quite some time.
The Body Shop Lavender--for when I want to feel calm and relaxed.
Melaleuca Renew Body Lotion--unscented, for when my skin is really dry, when any smells bother you, or when you just don't want your beautiful new perfume to compete with a smelly lotion. (Melaleuca is a mail-order company.)
Bath and Bodyworks Mango Mandarin--just about every other day. More subtle than you'd expect, and most perfumes don't have to compete with its scent. Then again, sometimes it's nice to wear this alone.
The above lotions are all very nice on your skin. I stay away from perfumed lotions that come in gift packs--they tend to feel greasy and dry out quickly. I'm a sucker for advertising, but I've come to resist the ads for Vaseline, Oil of Olay, and Jergens products. Lotions that come in such huge bottles often go stale before they're finished, and if you're like me, you don't like to waste the product you've bought (even if it was only $4), so you end up using all of it anyway. Your skin is not happy, you have to re-apply several times, and you might even smell stale. Who wants that??
And ladies, don't slather the lotion all over your body. Stay away from the, eck-ghem, sensitive areas, including your breasts. If the skin there feels dry, try a talc powder like Lush's Silky Underwear. Double bonus: it's great for under the breasts for those hot humid days (as well as other body creases...), and it has moisturizers in it to make your skin stay soft. That's something that people will want to get close to.
