Late one night a female phones the Alcoholics Anonymous Hot Line. She's in tears.
"Help me. Please, please help me." She says through her hysteria.
"You've got to help me. You've got to do something." (Long, indrawn breath and pause.)
"My sister is drinking herself to death."
(A long silence.)
"Some of us do.", says the calm, loving, male voice on the other end of the line.
Alcoholism is a disease that hurts people. It not only hurts the drinker, it hurts people who love and care about the drinker. It hurts innocent by-standers.
If you or someone you know is being hurt by this disease, there's hope and help available. Please contact your nearest resource center.
