Hello, people and happy Saturday. I mulled over what to talk about today. Why, you may ask, is this post called Adam 2.0? I have my reasons. Men would do well to remember that our first father, Adam, folded under pressure when it counted the most. Scripture doesn't tell us why Adam followed his wife into sin, but it does tell us that he watched his wife give into temptation and never lifted a finger.
Genesis 3:6,7 - So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate.
Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
Go back and read that again, you may have missed it. "She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate." This means that Adam was standing right there, able to act, to pull his wife away, and he didn't.
Guys, we have a problem, I call it the Adam problem. We hold back when we need to come through. You know that fear, the voice in your head saying that you can't make it, you'll fail. When we give ear to that voice, the game is over before it starts.
Satan hates us because we were given a special place in God's creation story. We are His crowning achievement. Men are the image-bearers of God's power and creativity. Women bear God's beauty and mystery. The Enemy will strike where he knows we can be hurt. Is it pride, lust, money, sucess? Where are the cracks in your armor? There is a solution, men.
Adam is our first father, the first of us to wimp out. Jesus was and is our second Adam, our elder Brother, our Lord and Saviour. Where Adam failed, Jesus came through. He can give you a new heart, a good and brave heart. He can come through for us. We can come through for our friends and families when we call on Him.
I hope I've given everyone some food for thought. Next time, I'll get into specific areas where men tend to fail and how we can overcome and pull through. Good night and God bless.
