WALTER isn’t a label that one would consider bold or avant-garde. Started by businessman turned designer Walter Baker it considers its clientele “uptown girls with a downtown sensibility” or as I see it the characters of Gossip Girl. Either way you view the client, the clothes presented on Sunday would give the girl what she wants.
WALTER presented primarily skirts and dresses that hit at varying levels above the knee. Some of the most successful ensembles were of unexpected pairings -such as the sheer ruffled lightly patterned blouse with the cuffed black leather shorts or the beautiful cream colored printed top with the pleated plaid skirt with pockets. The collection was also filled with beautiful dresses that could happily reside in most young women’s closet. In short the collection was both youthful and classy which I suspect is exactly what WALTER was going for.
