While it's true no body shaper can turn me from a size 26 to a size 16, like every women, fat or thin, when dressing up, I like my jiggles and buldges to be under control.
It seems no matter what your size, really, all women at some point buy shape wear.
Yet this stuff is also, in the long run, poorly designed.
To start with, there's some brands are just not all that. Despite rave reviews, I found Spanx to be a total waste of money. Their nylons not only ran more then Seabiscut, but also rolled down my butt and I had to race to the bathroom to pull them back up. Lipo In A Box did not live up to the hype and my back buldges were still there just as much as before.
Dr. Rey's is actually pretty darn good except for the fact he obviously makes it for women with much longer torsos. The high waisted panties come up almost completely over my breasts, and his back shaper with arm control rolls up at the bottom when I sit down, unless I get one of those body shaping panties that have a girdle-like part up top that I can wear over the Dr. Rey's.
What I tend to wear the most though is a full body suit like the one in the picture. However, this thing is a major pain when it comes to one little thing.
GOING TO THE BATHROOM!
It's next to impossible. See, the hook and eyes are put so far towards the butt that you have to be a contorsionist to get to them. Anymore I just fully undress, peel the suit off, and go. Then redress.
I like the full body suits because they hit every area I want to control - except arms which I wish they did that as well. Tummy, butt, back, and sides. Though I do dislike how they make me look flat chested. (As a DDD that's a pretty big feat.) But that's solved by getting a wireless one and wearing my regular bras underneath.
I know some of these shapewear come with slits you can pull open for urination. However, that only works if you're not wearing panties. As you can tell by my past blogs, I ALWAYS wear panties. I even bought extra firm shapewear panties just to wear under my bathingsuit. If it wasn't for doctors telling me not to, I'd wear panties to bed.
And to get a little grosser in order to prove my point about how the crotch of shapewear needs to be redesigned - I also have irrtible bowel syndrom. How is a slit going to help me when I have an IBS attack?
What these things need is for the eyes to be put up towards the stomach area, then make the hook part longer so it's easier to reach between the legs and grab it, then pull it up to hook it in.
Of course they also need to design it in such a manner as to acount for various torso sizes. Women with short torsos need shapewear just as much, if not more, then women with long torsos.
The Dr. Rey's back shaper with arm control appears to no longer be avalible. It's too bad. Despite the rolling problem, I liked mine enough that I wanted to get one in a "nude" color to wear under tops with see through sleeves. I tried looking for other brands but the only one I found was on Amazon and I couldn't tell if it came in my size.
