Maybe Dr. Seuss was on the right track with Green Eggs and Ham. Will we like it? The Green perception must be understood in order to grasp the permanent effect it will have in our lives.
I was introduced to the Green trend at a Leader in Energy and Environmental Design workshop. The process includes creating an autonomous setting with the expertise of various professionals. GREEN means working as humans to maintain our lifestyle by changing our current methods of development with increased comfort and health. It is a circular plan instead of a structured one, bringing all elements together for a beautiful, comfortable, and healthy living environment.
Sam-I-am encouraged Green in the house, in a train, in the rain, on a tree, in the dark. Rooftops are designed with soil and plants to eliminate heat islands which cause global warming. Our sustainable home will redirect water to infiltrate the earth, and irrigate our landscape. Planted trees maintain cool temperatures. Darkness is a blessing to a light polluted sky. Windows illuminate interiors to eliminate the need for artificial lights. It is up to us to incorporate these ideas into our designs and flourish in Dr. Seuss’ idea of Green.
