It looks like the overall mood at the tents on the first day of the fashion week was pretty dark, and Nicole Miller's collection was another celebration of the black edgy pieces combined with occasional splashes of muted colors.

While the clothes were very wearable and included few signature prints that  many women would want in their closet, the overall feeling after seeing it as a whole was a bit depressing. Spider inspired prints styled against black wool and leather created a dark story.

There is no evidence if the inspiration was designer's recent near death experience or the actual economy crisis (she denied it in our interview) but this collection definitely had some underlaid meaning. According to Nicole Miller herself she tried to be unexpected and new, and we have to applaud her for that.
