Yigal Azrouel may have only shown twenty-eight looks this season, but as the designer himself told us backstage in the Mercedes-Benz Star Lounge, each one was special to him. Yigal, who was also this season’s Mercedes-Benz featured designer, chose a sexy and streamlined silhouette for his Fall/Winter 2009 collection.
The models had dark, dramatic eyes and simple, straight hair that matched perfectly with the barely-there dresses and gave them the look of a confident, effortlessly cool nightlife vixen. At the same time, there was an edge and sophistication present in the geometric shapes like a modernistic white hourglass dress with long sleeves and a royal blue sheath dress.
The big 80’s trend that has been everywhere this season was visible in the high-waisted pleated pants, one shoulder dresses and ruffles galore. While virtually every designer says they create for a confident, independent woman, Azrouel’s collection couldn’t be worn by anyone else--she’s undeniably the hottest girl at the party that makes everyone stare and wonder, “who is that?” while seething with jealously about her beauty and immaculate outfit.
