There is certainly no economic downturn in Katy Stern's fashion world. For fall, the Venexiana designer took us on a lush trip to the Palazzo Fortuny—once the home of legendary textile designer, Mariano Fortuny—in Venice.
The luxurious collection, using the most opulent fabrics, truly employed Kati’s command of technical technique. The standouts we saw were: body-skimming evening gowns, adorned with hand beading and metallic sequins, an innovative use of mink and fox jackets and collars paired with elegant suiting, and couture-like cocktail dresses fit for a princess—with a twist of course. The show stopper was the finale, a Lyone lace encrusted with Swarovski crystals couture bridal gown. Venexiana was the perfect blend of Old World sophistication, yet with a rock-n-roll edge.
