Charlotte Ronson might be the young designer best known for her uptown-meets-downtown trust fund hipster girl look, but this season she took a drastically different approach to her Fall/Winter 2009 collection. With a palette consisting mostly black, interspersed with occasional lumberjack plaids, the mood of the show was edgy and slightly noir. Pleated leather, high-waisted pants were clearly inspired by the 80’s working woman and would have looked quite at home on Grace Jones. Even the models’ makeup amplified their razor-sharp cheekbones in a way that expressed a sort of masculine power that was sexy but domineering.
It was a family affair à la Royal Tennenbaums with sister Samantha DJing the set of old-timey tunes, brother Mark Ronson in attendance as well as mother/socialite Annabel Dexter-Jones sitting front row nearby a stunning Lindsay Lohan who wore tight high waisted black pants and a sheer cream blouse.
