Mineral Makeup is giving a new meaning to the term “natural beauty.” Made from earthy pigments such as mica and iron oxides, mineral –infused beautifiers are great for both the skin and the environment. “Mineral makeup protects against sun damage and feels weightless because it doesn’t contain artificial fillers,” says Hollis Wright, national training director for Colorescience, a line of mineral and crystal based cosmetics. But healthy doesn’t mean bland. Cases in point? Mineral Fusion Cosmetics, recently launched at Whole Foods Market, boasts hip hues housed in sleek packaging. Colorescience recently introduced Luxury Lip Candy Glaze, a collection of six glosses that contain ironoxides. Also debuting is Jane Iredale’s Global Beauty line, which includes deeper shades of foundation, powders, and gold-flecked, peachy blush to complement a multitude of skin tones.
