An Unambitious Place
Leslie Stephanie was not smart.

That was the lone deafening thought reverberating in my head as Leslie Stephanie tried to impress upon me how empowering it was to sell Mary Kay make up. “It’s so very, very, very empowering.” She states, taking a sip from her beer, then taking it from her lips, looking at it and saying, “I hope this doesn’t make me fat. Everyone knows fat girls don’t get married.” I raise my eyebrows at this but do not comment as to not interrupt the verbal vomit coming from her mouth. “It’s even empowering for men. This guy, he got up on the stage and he talked about the wonders that the hand cream had done for his skin. It’s winter time you know.”

I had returned from a six month stint in Alaska to find that most of my friends were neither living at home any more nor were they living in Colorado Springs. Despite the allure of being surrounded by mega churches and Bucca di Beppas, people had moved on. This is one of my favorite new blogs, probably just because I relate to the blogger.
