Here’s what I know for sure of about Bape’s head designer,
Nigo:
Nothing.
Besides the fact that he is constantly attached to the hip of Pharrell Williams and is typically outfitted head-to-toe in his own designs, that’s pretty much where all of my fun facts end on the man.
Basically, he’s like the Maison Martin Margiela of streetwear. Except, more photo-friendly, of course.
And that’s how he’s liked it. Until now.
This November, the first large-format monograph on A Bathing Ape will be released, “detailing the rise of a young, enigmatic designer simply known as Nigo and his transformation of a niche brand into an international powerhouse.”
Retailing for $60, five different dust jackets in various colors have been made for the coffee table book.
And you thought the kids were through with arbitrary repackaging of American pop-culture.
