Clearly making up for the 1,000 + words they wasted on describing the phenomenon known as Spedi, the LA Times profiles Russian babes Kira Plastinina and Dasha Zhukova this week.
Kira (pictured right), would be the 15-year-old wunderkid who’s opened 40 stores this year alone to sell her casual chic designs and has been dubbed the “teen tycoon” by Teen Vogue. Older and just as poised, Dasha (left) is one half of the sexy Kova & T line, which had every blue-blooded LA resident rocking their latex black leggings this season.
Both of the designer’s operations are funded by their wealthy fathers and in their home country people call them “spoilt bratskies.” And that’s where the similarities end.
While Kira preps for an American takeover, with 50 stores opening in the next three years, Kova & T has no plans to mass produce. Or at least not that obnoxiously. Oh, and about her teenage competition, Dasha says:
“Does she really have 40 stores in Russia? Huh. I’ve never seen one.”
