Jill Stuart debuted a micro-collection of flirty, feminine clothes that marked a significant departure from her most recent Fall 2008 collection. Indeed, it would be hard to guess that it was the same Jill Stuart who, just a few months ago showed a collection of heavy, structured and even-a-bit Gothic garments.
Like a thorough spring cleaning, gone were the buttons, pockets and dark colors. The resort collection, by contrast, was defined by an airy simplicity that was both eminently wearable and still chic.
With the exception of one gray, mini-dress, the clothes had a loose, effortless drape on the body. While the tasteful florals were the obvious seasonal indicator, it was the deep purple that appeared on a ruffled top (above) and again on a Romanesque dress that was the collection's highlight.
