Ishii's Spring/Summer 2009 collection is an exploration in the season's biggest trends as seen on the runways of New York just a month back: ruffles and airy, feminine silhouettes. While Tamae Ishii's inspiration was Audrey Hepburn in A Roman Holiday, the clothes still manage to feel contemporary, not mired in the clichés of the era.
Indeed, Hepburn is definitely visible in the full, A-line skirt that is part of the collection's first look. The collection ranges from girly and flirty, as seen in a printed floral strapless dress to older and more sophisticated.
“I wanted to create fun, flirty and wearable pieces that could be dressed up or down,” Ishii said.
Ishii, which launched in Spring 2007, is carried in retailers including 25Park.com, Nikki Laura Boutique, New York, and Decatur, Los Angeles.
