An array of lights, a work of art, four go’ go dancers, modern dancers, and a painting ballerina. With a dim of the lights and …… suddenly thump, thump, thump here comes the outfits inspired by art work of the masterpiece run way fashion show. A fusion of fashion and art, watercolor swimwear, picture perfect day dresses, surreal sportswear, the next generation, abstract after five, and stroke of midnight eveningwear were the categories were all to the 150 garments where displayed at this year fashion show at Long Beach city college. Most designs were submitted by the fashion design class I-IV. Design I constructed two garments targeting a specific customer, design II designed three garments a “project runway” assignment given by owner and president for Stop Staring! Alicia Estrada (LBCC alumni), they also created a garment inspired by a work of art and draped and evening gown, while design III and IV fabricated as well three garment for a grouping of a designer of their choice. Some of the designers selected were: Alexander McQueen, Jeremy Scott, Roberto Cavalli, Luis Verdad, Mintee, and Billabong. Other designs were submitted by the swimwear class or form students that had taken the Fashion design class last semester. With such creative clothing and hard work it was no wonder this years fashion show was a picture perfect success. Pictures will be up soon.
