As we franticly looked for our friend Diana, we could only think of the worse. We had last seen her conversing with a lady selling fruits out side of the church parking lot. She was wearing a yellow flouncy summer dress in a light cotton fabric; she looked like the epitome of summer with such a vibrant color. The church bus was pulling out of the drive way as we bellowed out to come and join us in the bus. – She was left behind. After about an hour the bus returned and the likes of Diana where nowhere to be found. – She was gone. Entering the church we had hoped to see her by the stairway patiently waiting for us as we would question about where we would like to go eat for lunch. As we neared the stairway she was nowhere to be seen.
The dead silence brought more horrid thoughts. We examined every inch of the church; hoping she would be one of the many rooms waiting for our return. Our quest for our friend had ended where we began.
We made our way to the parking lot once again to ponder about where she might be. Her older sister Esther began to dial their house; thinking that she “might of gone home”. The call was made. The first dial tone… nothing, the second once again … nothing. As the third dial tone was wringing one of our other friends, with an uplifting voice said “I think thats her.” With a sudden thrust of our necks we turned to confirm if it might be her. We could see from a far distance a yellow flouncy dress and sure enough, it was Diana.
