I was working this Saturday at CVS and a chic woman in her mid-40s was looking at a spring trend forecast in People’s magazine while I was bagging her items. Before I could tell her how much she owed me for her the items she purchased, she asked me, “What is this whole safari trend?” I instantly put a smile on my face because I love when customers ask me questions about fashion. So, I told her, “It’s like taking your all the khakis you own to the zookeeper’s level, yet it’s more trendier. She stared down at her magazine once again and she said, “I guess I better get me a safari outfit!” I said to her, “It’s up to you. But, I don’t really live for trends.” The woman looked at me shocked and said, “ You have to live for trends.” Every year, women wonder what the new spring trends are going to be and I’m one of them. However, I believe you should embrace one spring trend that will easily mix into your personal style. Don’t become the spring trend Christmas tree hanging on to every trend that is out there as if it’s another hanging Santa on your tree. Let’s say the hottest trends this spring are gladiator Sandals, leggings, denim capris, and floral mini dresses. Now, imagine a woman walking down the street with all of those trends on at the same time. Obviously, she would look extremely loud and a hot mess. If a woman adds trends gradually, she will look more put together. She can put the floral mini dress on with the leggings, but don’t add the gladiator sandals. She can put the denim capris on with the gladiator sandals, but don’t add the leggings. If you’re a trend seeker, just try not to look like a walking trend parade. Personally, I love trends. But, I know that all trends don’t work for me so some I just erase from my mind. For instance, I love wearing belts. One year they are in and one year they are out. Yet, I continue to wear belts because they are just a part of my personal style. So, remember every woman has her own style, and every woman can’t rock every trend that is out there. It’s that simple.
